Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane has bemoaned his side’s missed chances in their goalless draw with Tala’ea El Gaish SC in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday evening.
After playing out to a goalless draw, Ahly are in second place in the league standings with 32 points, trailing log-leaders Zamalek by three points with two games in hand.
Meanwhile, Tala’ea El Gaish are placed 11th – level on 19 points with 10th-placed ENPPI and Al Masry in ninth position after 16 matches.
In his post-match media conference, Mosimane commented on the team’s goalless draw with Tala’ea El Gaish, saying his side lacked the energy to produce the winning goal on the day.
“We are sad that we didn’t win tonight, but we tried. We missed a lot of chances. We tried to win; however, if we have continued playing for one more hour we wouldn’t have scored. We made more than one attacking substitution but still we weren’t able to score,” Mosimane told his club’s official website.
“We should’ve shot more from outside the box.
“We have too many games to play, but that is still not an excuse. We weren’t energetic enough today.
“As for Amr El Soulia’s injury, he is overloaded with games and he made a very good decision to leave the pitch. No one played the amount of games that he played over the past period. He wasn’t supposed to play today, but also Hamdy wasn’t feeling comfortable to start.
“I have three midfielders and I need to make sure to keep one outside.
“I can’t judge Hossam Hassan. I’m happy that he got the chance to play tonight. Percy Tau plays good but he’s missing the chances.
“That’s why I entered Sherif and Salah, and both of them missed today as well.
“We can’t say today that we were tired. I don’t want to make excuses. We played most parts of the game in their half and failed to score.”
