Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane says his side will continue to fight to retain their Egyptian Premier League title following their stalemate against National Bank SC.
The Red Eagles were forced to settle for a point after playing out to a 1-1 draw with National Bank at the Al Ahly Al Salam Stadium on Thursday evening.
Afsha broke the deadlock from Ahly in the 47th minute but Karim Bambo’s equaliser earned National Bank SC a point five minutes before full time.
Mosimane’s side remain second in the league standings with 52 points after 24 games, eight points behind log-leaders Zamalek. Ahly, though, have three games in hand due to their participation in the Caf Champions League.
“We will fight for the league title,” Mosimane told his club’s official website.
“We have mistakes and we have to correct them. We did not play well and I am disappointed with my team and myself.
“We had several chances in the first half, but we failed to convert them. Football always punishes you when you do not take the chances.
“If I want to find an easy way out, I will say absences, but I am not the type of coach who looks for excuses. We knew from the beginning that we will miss players.
“We have to support the country. It is not a Fifa tournament and you can say no, just as the European clubs that said no.”
