Polokwane City have acted on an option to extent the contract of striker Thobani Mncwango for an additional two years.

Mncwango finished as the runner-up in the Absa Premiership scoring charts this term as he banged in 13 goals, form which has alerted a host of clubs to his scoring talents, reports KickOff.

According to reports, three clubs have all shown interest in the player, who also recently received his first Bafana Bafana call-up. Those clubs are believed to be Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic.

But Polokwane have opted to end these rumours by extending the player’s contract. Mncwango’s deal had been set to run until the end of the month prior to the activation of the clause.

Polokwane were desperate to keep hold of their prized asset for the 2016-17 season as the side were heavily dependant on the striker’s goals last term.

Mncwango made 31 appearances for Polokwane in all competitions last term.
