The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have released a statement condemning the violence showed by Kaizer Chiefs supporters on Saturday evening.

The Amakhosi were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup following a 2-0 loss to Free State Stars. The Chiefs supporters at the Moses Mabida Stadium reacted angrily to the result as they stormed the pitch, attacked security guards and destroyed stadium and broadcast equipment.

The PSL released a statement condemning the violence.

The statement read: ‘Hooliganism and thuggery of this nature has no place in football and acts of violence perpetrated by individuals are witnessed last night cannot be tolerated.

‘The league will work closely with law enforcement to ensure that those responsible for this hooliganism are subjected to judicial processes.’

‘The league is currently awaiting reports from all relevant role players,’ the statement concluded.

Just two weeks ago Chiefs fans reacted in a similar fashion after their 3-0 loss to Chippa United which resulted in them being charged by the PSL. More to follow on this story as Chiefs could face serious punishment for their second infringement this month.
