The General Manager of the PSL Derek Blanckensee, as well as junior staff member Thami Khuzwayo, have been suspended following unspecified charges.
Although the alleged offences of the pair have yet to be brought to the limelight, it is believed the duo will face a disciplinary committee hearing on July 19.
News of the enforced leave administered to the pair broke following the issue of a circular by acting PSL CEO Mato Madlala to the PSL’s clubs.
‘Mr Derek Blanckensee and Mr Thami Khuzwayo will not be in office until further notice,’ a portion of the circular reads, reports KickOff.
Michael Murphy, meanwhile, the head of the legal division, confirmed measures would be taken against both Blanckensee and Khuzwayo, but stop short of adding any further details.
‘I can confirm that there are disciplinary proceedings against the two names you mentioned, but that does not mean anyone is guilty or innocent as yet,’ he told City Press.
‘We are going to have a hearing chaired by an independent chairperson. There are strict liabilities in any business and we have to do everything by the book.’
It has been speculated the disciplinary action may involve the improper resignation of players who currently ply their trade in the PSL.
