South African-born goalkeeper Danny Amos has joined Israeli Premier League side Maccabi Petah Tikva ahead of the 2016-17 season.

The 29-year-old, who once expressed interest in representing Bafana Bafana, has previously featured in Israeli squads and is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeeper’s in the country, reports KickOff.

Having previously attracted interest from local giants Orlando Pirates, the Vanderbijlpark-born player has spent the majority of his playing career with Israeli side Ironi Kiryat Shmona, with whom he claimed a league title back in 2011-12.

Amos was regarded as one of the standout players in the league that season and was duly voted the Israel Football Association Player of the Year following his fine performances.

However, Amos’ transfer to Hapoel Tev Aviv in 2013 saw a change in fortunes as he fell out of favour with the side in spite of maintaining his reputation as an excellent goalkeeper.

Amos made 29 appearances last term and kept 11 clean sheets for Hapoel Akko last term but was powerless to prevent the side’s relegation.
