SAFA has announced that the organisation has submitted a request to the South African government to restart amateur football under lockdown level 2.
Amateur football, along with football on levels in South Africa, was suspended when the country went into lockdown level 5 at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.
While the professionals have returned to action, thousands of amateur footballers have been biding their time, waiting to get back onto the pitch.
SAFA has since given these football lovers some hope when they announced on Thursday that they have sent an application to the government to get non-professional football back underway.

The statement on their website read:
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has submitted a request for the resumption of amateur football under Level 2 to the Government in line with Regulations gazatted on 17 August 2020.
As soon as the Government approves the application, the Association shall communicate with all stakeholders on commencement dates and processes.
The Association commits that two clubs from the ABC Motsepe will be promoted to the National First Division, in line with the standing football regulations.
In the meantime, all amateur football must remain suspended until SAFA gets the go ahead response from the Government.
