South African Football Association’s technical director Neil Tovey has suffered a heart attack, according to reports.

The former Bafana Bafana captain’s brother, Mark, has confirmed that Tovey was in a critical condition and doctors were battling to stabilise the 54-year-old.

‘He suffered a heart attack while training this afternoon (Sunday, 16 October 2016) and was rushed to a nearby hospital. We await the doctor’s report and the next few hours are going to be critical,’ Tovey said.

SAFA president Danny Jordaan went on to wish Tovey a speedy recovery after suffering from cardiac arrest for the second time since February 2015.

‘We trust he will pass through this challenge,’ Dr Jordaan said.
