Bafana Bafana international Thulani Serero has revealed his pleasure in talk linking him with an exit from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.
Serero has fallen down the pecking order at the Eredivisie side and has been reduced to training with the youth team as well as having his number taken from him.
There is light at the end of the tunnel for Serero with interest in his services from England and France.
‘Reading, of Jaap Stam, Bordeaux and some of other clubs have expressed interest I think. That interest makes me feel good and gives me the energy I need now. The fans that I meet support me, and I’m grateful for that. Even when I’m gone I’ll never forget the fans,’ Serero told De Telegraaf, according to Goal.com.
Serero also revealed that he snubbed Cypriot side APOEL FC despite the lure of first team football as he looks to re-start his career in Europe.
‘The interest of APOEL came to me too late. It was the last day of the transfer window and I did not know much about the Cypriot league or APOEL.
‘I had not even spoken to APOEL‚ so there was still far to go for an agreement.
‘There were also many other options‚ but my gut said “No”.’
Serero was back in the spotlight during the recent World Cup qualifier against Senegal as he tucked home his side’s second goal which proved to be decisive.
‘I could sit at home crying‚ but I chose the other option. To keep my head up and keep a positive attitude‚’ added Serero.
‘I think I proved that with my goal and a good game with the national team of South Africa.
‘I am a very strong person. I can handle myself and look in the mirror‚ because I’ve always been good for everyone at Ajax and have always given everything.
‘The worst thing for me was not being on the pitch on match-day. That caused me a lot of pain.’
