New Mameldoi Sundowns signing Toni Silva has revealed that he wants to make Mamelodi Sundowns his home after spending a number of years chopping and changing clubs.

The 24-year-old, who plays for Guinea-Bissau, was born in Portugal where he played for Benfica’s Under-19s. He then joined Chelsea before he was snapped up by the Liverpool academy.

After failing to make the first team on Merseyside he went out on loan to Northampton in the fourth tier of English football in 2011/12. He had further loan moves at Barnsley, a second-tier side where he only played 19 minutes of football, and Dagenham and Redbridge in the fourth tier where he played four games.

The winger then struggled to settle with clubs in Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece which also didn’t last that long.

Silva has signed a three-year deal with the Brazilians and is looking to make Chloorkop his new home.

‘I have been moving around, but playing in different countries and different leagues has made me get a wide range of experience. I have learnt something from everywhere I have been and that’s what happens when you have been all over.

‘You grow as a person and have a worldly insight from the different cultures and different conditions that you have faced. Moving around helped me deal with everything that’s been thrown in my direction. Now I am here at Sundowns. I am happy to be here and I hope to stay here for a long time.’
