PUMA, the official technical and apparel partner of Mamelodi Sundowns, has unveiled the new home and away football kit inspired by Bafana Ba Style, a nickname reflecting the boldness and flair associated with a team that has won a record seven Premier Soccer League titles.
Now part of the growing PUMA football family which includes the likes of Italy, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, the Tshwane-based team will run out onto the pitch wearing the Home PUMA shirt, shorts and socks for the first time in a CAF Champions League fixture on 23 August 2016.
With a yellow and green colourway the regular fit, 100% polyester home jersey uses PUMA’s Dry CELL Technology to draw moisture away from the skin’s surface while playing. With no seams under the arms to prevent chafing, the underarm mesh gusset is designed for optimal fit and comfort. The lightweight and durable jersey has ventilation fabric to keep the players cool and comfortable on-field.
The Bafana Ba Style Away kit has all the technical features of the Home jersey held together by a classic design in navy blue, a woven Mamelodi Sundowns badge on the right side of the chest and PUMA Cat logo on the left.
‘Together with our supporters, we are extremely excited about this historic partnership with PUMA. We can expect top of the line high-tech product, which will ensure our team’s continued dominance over our opponents on the pitch. Our supporters are also expecting to stay stylish, hence the phrase “Bafana Ba Style”.’ said the club’s media officer Thulani Thuswa.
‘PUMA is extremely proud to release the 2016-17 Mamelodi Sundowns kit,’ says marketing director Brett Bellinger.
‘The design of the kit and in particular the fabrication should allow the Team to perform at their Forever Faster best while continuing the tradition of Mamelodi Sundowns being the most stylish Team in the PSL. PUMA wishes the Team and Management all the best for the coming season, we are behind you all the way.’
The replica shirts made in South Africa exemplifies PUMA’s commitment to support local business and manufacturing.
The home shirt hits stores on 2 September and the away shirt is available in October 2016, both retailing for R699 at PUMA stores and select retailers nationwide.
