Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane says they apologised to their supporters for their loss in the last game by clinching a 4-1 victory over Pharco at the Alexandria Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Red Eagles scored three goals in the first half through Mohamed Sherif and a brace from Mohamed Magdy Afsha before adding the fourth goal in the second half and putting the game to bed thanks to a late goal from Hussein El Shahat.
With the win Ahly reclaim the top spot in the Egyptian Premier League standings to move two points ahead of Pyramids FC with 25 points from nine games, while Pharco are placed seventh on the table with 15 points from 11 matches played so far this season.
Mosimane was delighted to have returned to winning ways after suffering a narrow defeat by rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in their last match.
“In the last league game against Misr Lel Makkasa, we played the same system [4-2-3-1] and we managed to score four goals and tonight we used the same system and scored four goals,” Mosimane told his club’s official website.
“That is how to apologise to our fans [after losing the last match]. We showed that we are hurt and angry after losing the last match. Our problem against Mamelodi Sundowns was scoring a goal … only the goal. Thank God, tonight we scored and I am happy for our players.”
