Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler aims for a positive start when they take on Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 quarter-finals at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday.

The former Orlando Pirates mentor insists that their clash against Amakhosi is an important clash and he insists that he plans to have the same mentality throughout the tournament.

‘Yes, we treat every game irrespective of who we play, it’s an important fixture for us to win,’ Tinkler said.

‘I’ve reiterated this to the players that starting off the season with a Cup like the MTN8, you got four games, you win your first title, that all there is.’

Tinkler continued to say his players should stick to keeping a positive mindset heading into the cup tie.

‘It’s important that you go out there with a positive mentality, with that same title mentality, particular Majoro, and Tshepo because they’ve been there, they’ve played against Chiefs before.

‘We’ve got a few players that have signed for us, the oversea’s players that have not had that experience of playing against a team like Kaizer Chiefs. the type of environment they going to encounter in terms of the fans.

‘Already for some of the players walking into the stadium and listening to the Polokwane fans gave them a bit of a fright, they not use to that. It’s about that adaptation as well, particularly for the foreign-based players.’

The 46-year-old coach says he will use his past ‘experience and knowledge’ playing against the Glamour Boys to give his side an edge over Steve Komphela’s men.

‘It’s important for me as a coach to take that experience and knowledge that I have of past games against Kaizer Chiefs and obviously with the aid and help of those players to ensure that we get a positive result.

Kick-off has been set for 20:00.
