Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has praised the performance of Lehlohonolo Majoro following his side’s 1-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs on Friday.

Majoro worked tirelessley for City all night despite his side largely being outplayed by their Amakhosi rivals. Neverthless, it was Tinkler’s men who emerged victorious from the MTN8 clash as they clung to Matthew Sim’s early strike to progress.

Tinkler, who also mentored Majoro at the pair’s former club Orlando Pirates, wsa full of praise for the attacker despitre the side really threatening the Chiefs goal.

‘Majoro, best I’ve seen him play in a long, long time,’ Tinkler said, reports KickOff. ‘His fitness levels, truth be told, he joined us late, they are not where they should be.

‘But whenever we looked to get forward we could find Majoro, he could hold it up, he was looking to link up the play and I’m very, very happy with his performance.’

The City coach revealed he was pleased with the defensive performance of his side but was hopeful of improvement going forward.

‘There were a couple of times on the counters we made the wrong decisions, Bongo Jayiya made a wrong decision, Aubrey Ngoma made a wrong decision, but that will come with time,’ he explained.

The coach concluded by stating he is confident the side can enjoy a prosperous season.
