Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler was frustrated to not have claimed all three points against Kaizer Chiefs following their 1-1 draw at the FNB Stadium on Tuesday.
The Glamour Boys took an early lead through Mitchell Katsvairo before substitute Matthew Sim netted a fine equaliser in the 53rd minute to ensure they top the Absa Premiership table.
Before the match the City boss believed Chiefs were ripe for the taking. He was understandably disappointed with a single point despite the result sending them table-topping.
The 46-year-old coach was not impressed with his side’s first-half performance, citing a lack of concentration.
‘[It was] frustrating, to be honest. First half I thought we were really bad. Extremely disappointing first half,’ Tinkler said after the match.
‘We couldn’t keep the ball, we couldn’t apply the pressure, we conceded the goal very sloppily in the first three minutes of the game and we looked extremely lethargic in the first half. I was not impressed by that.’
Tinkler believes they should have bagged all three points and taken advantage of their being a man over.
‘Second half was a comedy of errors from us. When you’re playing against ten you need to spread the ball wide and we’re still trying to penetrate through the middle.
‘That’s the frustrating part. For me, this is more like two points lost rather than one point gained, because I think this was a day when we should have come here and collected all three points.’
Cape Town City will travel to the Bidvest Stadium to take on Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on 2 December.
Kick-off has been set for 20:00.
