Toronto FC interim coach Terry Dunfield says they have acquired a “very good young player” in forward Cassius Mailula.
The 22-year-old joined the Major League Soccer outfit from Mamelodi Sundowns after impressing in his debut season.
The forward impressed in his debut season with Sundowns in which he won the DStv Premiership title as well as being named as the PSL Young Player of the Season.
This achievement came after he contributed to 19 goals, including 15 goals and four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions to earn himself a move to the MLS.
Toronto’s interim coach Terry Dunfield has been impressed by what he has seen from the South African and is looking forward to seeing his quality in action.
“He can play anywhere across the front line,” he told the club’s website. “He takes the ball well, whether it’s in behind the back line or in between lines, really smoothly.
“He can set up goals, he can score goals. There’s a youthful enthusiasm with how he plays, very creative. We’ve got a very good young player on our hands who is excited to be in Toronto.”
