Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has dismissed reports suggesting that the club ready to meet Bidvest Wits R10-million asking price for Sibusiso Vilakazi.
The 26-year-old has attracted interest from a host of top clubs, including the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
According to KickOff.com, Sundowns have the option of giving players to make up that R10-million, with Cuthbert Malajila and Anthony Laffor being touted as possible makeweights.
The Clever Boys have already turned down an R8-million bid from Amakhosi for the services of Vilakazi.
The 51-year-old coach says that no local player is worth that kind of money and insists that the Brazilians are not willing to meet his asking price.
‘We can’t afford to pay so much money. In my own opinion, I think there is no player worth more than R10-million in South Africa,’ Mosimane said.
‘In my opinion even my own players [are not worth that much]. I think it’s not worth it, that money, we are not going to pay it.’
The player made 31 appearances for Wits across all competitions last term, netting nine times and assisting an additional four.
