Big name Mamelodi Sundowns signing Sibusiso Vilakazi has admitted his disappointment at being unable to participate in the current Caf Champions League campaign.
The Brazilians are set to battle for a place in the showpiece final of the continental tournament with a game in hand having gone unbeaten in the group phase to take their place in last four.
Vilakazi, however, will not be able to join up with his teammates for the final few hurdles as he has already represented Bidvest Wits in this edition of the tournament.
The 26-year-old will thus have to cheer his new comrades on from the sidelines until the side renew their quest for glory in the 2017 competition.
‘Most definitely, I’m very disappointed that I’m cup-tied but it is what it is,’ Vilakazi told KickOff. ‘I’m cup-tied and there’s nothing that I can do.
‘I can only wait for my opportunity to come next year, but I would have loved to jump in immediately and compete, and contribute to the team’s excellent run.’
The attacking midfielder has encouraged his teammates to take their game to the next level if they are to ensure progress. In addition, the star believes his side will benefit from the effects of the prolonged season.
Vilakazi made 31 appearances for Wits across all competitions last term, netting nine times and assisting an additional four.
