Mamelodi Sundowns forward Sibusiso Vilakazi has admitted that despite his current good form, he remains unsatisfied and hungry to improve, writes DEAN WORKMAN.

The midfielder was speaking to the media on Wednesday during a press conference looking ahead to the Nedbank Cup quarter-final tie between Sundowns and Cape Town City on Sunday.

Vila, as he is affectionately known as, has been in good run of form for the Brazilians, scoring some crucial goals and contributing to his team’s success in a busy schedule. The former Bidvest Wits man has scored four goals since the turn of the year but revealed that he remains focused on continuing his improvement.

‘You would say I’m doing well. But I would say that just doing well is not good enough for me. If you look at the team, there’s a gap and we are not too far from Pirates. So, I tell myself that’s not good enough. If I’m doing very, very well then that means I would have contributed to the team and we would have a gap of 10-11 points.

‘For ourselves, doing well is not good enough. I have a coach who will always try to make me improve on my weaknesses, striving to make me better. You see your strengths, but you emphasise your weaknesses, that’s how you get better, that’s how you find a challenge.

‘I am trying to reach a new level. I also try to criticise myself each and every time and I don’t get satisfied,’ concluded Vilakazi.

Sundowns will take on Cape Town City at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday in their Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash.
