Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes there is no down side to signing Tokelo Rantie after the forward has been impressive while training with the club.
Rantie has been without a club since the termination of his contract with Cape Town City last season and has been training with Downs since the start of pre-season, looking to earn himself a contract at the club.
The Absa Premiership champions made no secret of their desire to bring in Kaizer Chiefs Forward Khama Billiat and SuperSport United’s Aubrey Modiba during the transfer window, but after missing out on the duo, Mosimane revealed that they could turn to signing the former Bournemouth striker.
‘We have [Mauricio] Affonso and [Sammy] Seabi – and we will probably look at Tokelo, maybe we might give him a chance. You never know,” Mosimane said after his side’s 1-1 draw with SuperSport in the MTN8.
‘We will talk to him and find out how he is feeling, how does he see it. I mean this guy was playing in the Premier League and in Turkey – there must be something there.
‘Let’s give it a try, give him a chance to play and let’s give a South African player a chance to play. We’ve got nothing to lose. It’s always good for us. I have never seen a problem since he has been with us, that is why we are considering him,’ Mosimane concluded.
