Bidvest Wits have announced the signing of former Bafana Bafana right back Siboniso Gaxa following his trial period with the club.

The 32-year-old has been training with the Clever Boys for a while now and recently featured in the Gauteng Champion of Champions tournament during the international break.

‘The start of a new week came with fantastic news for the Bidvest Wits family as we welcome newly signed Siboniso Gaxa,’ the Bidvest Wits website confirmed.

‘Welcome to the family, Gaxa, and we look forward to you adding your defensive skills to the Clever Boys backline.’

Over the course of his club car1eer, Gaxa has netted five goals and assisted a further 17 from 286 appearances in all competitions, playing for the likes of SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Lierse SK and Kaizer Chiefs.

On an international level, the right back has racked up a total of 52 appearances for Bafana Bafana since making his debut in 2005 under then coach Stuart Baxter.
