Bidvest Wits are likely to bow to the pressure to sell their prized asset Sibusiso Vilakazi, but only if the offer comes from overseas, according to reports.
Vilakazi has attracted interest from a host of top clubs, including the likes of Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, with Chiefs already failing in a R8-million bid for the South African international.
Wits had previously claimed the player was not for sale, but are now believed to be awaiting an overseas offer for their star.
‘There’s free pressure on Wits to sell, but they are still holding out for the right offer from abroad. However, Vila is open to joining a bigger club locally,’ a source told Goal.
‘Yes, Chiefs have maintained their interest in the player, but Sundowns and Pirates are also keen admirers,’ the source added.
Pirates are believed to be preparing an offer for the player, but in the meantime, Vilakazi still has two years left on his Wits contract. The attacking midfielder netted nine goals in 31 appearances across all competitions for the Clever Boys this past season.
