Kaizer Chiefs have had a multi-million rand offer for Bidvest Wits midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi turned down as the Amakhosi battle Partizan Belgrade and Mamelodi Sundowns for the player’s signature.

Vilakazi has attracted the interest of the Glamour Boys following an impressive season for Wits in which he scored seven goals and assisted a further three from just 25 Absa Premiership appearances.

The player is rumoured to have attracted the likes of Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and champions Mamelodi Sundowns in recent seasons, with Chiefs reportedly eyeing the star as one of a string of changes. Steve Komphela is believed to have tabled a R6-million offer, but that offer has been turned down, reports SoccerLaduma.

Subsequently, it remains unclear whether or not the player is keen to stay at the club, or would prefer a switch to Europe.

Serbian side Partizan Belgrade have reportedly offered  €300 000 (around R5.2-million) for Vilakazi, and though that offer is also likely to be rejected (as it is lower than what Chiefs have bid), a follow-on offer from the club may yet be forthcoming.

Recent reports seemed to suggest it is Sundowns who lead the race for the midfielder’s signature. The Chloorkop side are said to be willing to pay big money to secure the player, while they could also offer as many as four players in part exchange.
