SuperSport United coach Stuart Baxter says that forward Dove Wome will be out for longer than expected after injuring himself against Maritzburg United last week.

Matsatsantsa played out to a goalless draw with Free State Stars at the Umlazi’s King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.

The Togolese forward now joins Clayton Daniels, new signing Tefu Mashamaite, Bradley Grobler, Thabo Makhele, David Mathebula, Cole Alexander, Grant Kekana and Fagrie Lakay on Matsatsantsa’s injury list, according to KickOff.com.

Baxter revealed that Wome suffered an injury to his knee and will be sidelined, while striker Kingston Nkhatha limped off in the second half against Ea Lla Koto.

‘The situation of injuries is ridiculous and we have Dove Wome now and he just had an MRI and he’s going to be out with a knee injury,’ Baxter said.

‘We had Kingston Nkhatha limping off. Our options are greatly reduced but it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have played better in the game (against Free State Stars).’

The former Kaizer Chiefs coach believes his side should have put the game to bed but a disappointing performance let them down.

‘I thought this was the game we should have won and this game was a disappointing performance,’ he added.

SuperSport United will now play Golden Arrows in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

The match at Princess Magogo Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
