Platinum Stars coach Cavin Johnson has revealed that injured star Bonginkosi Ntuli is well on the road to recovery and should resume training shortly.

Ntuli is on loan at Stars from Mamelodi Sundowns for a second successive season, but has failed to feature so far this campaign as he continues to recover from an injury that ruled him out of the last three games of the 2015-16 season.

The striker’s absence has not gone unnoticed up front as the side has looked short on physicality, particularly given that poacher Eleazar Rodgers was sold to Bidvest Wits in the last transfer window.

‘He’s coming, he’s still out injured but he’s coming,’ Johnson told KickOff. ‘He’s still got a few more weeks to start training, but he’s coming.’

Ntuli was an influential component of Dikwena’s side last season as he notched five goals and assisted a further two in his 19 competitive matches, helping Stars to an impressive third-placed finish.

Stars sit 10th in the Premiership with just five points to show from their opening five matches. The side’s next clash will see them take on newly-promoted Baroka in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday.

The match will take place at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The action gets underway at 15:00.
