Orlando Pirates sealed a first CAF Champions League knockout round place for 12 years as they defeated Algerian side CR Belouizdad 2-1 at the Orlando Stadium on Sunday to ensure a top two finish in their pool.

Taylor wins Sony Open on second play-off hole

Canada’s Nick Taylor knocked in a birdie putt from less than three feet away on the second playoff hole to win the Sony Open in Hawaii at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

Lategan/Cummings lose advantage in Dakar Rally

There was unbridled joy for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s Lucas Moraes and co-driver Armand Monleon on Stage 7 of the 2025 Dakar Rally. The #203 GR Hilux EVO crew posted a time of 4h 01min 49sec on the 419km stage, which started and finished near the town of Al Duwadimi. This put them 7min 41sec clear of the next-fastest crew, and gave the TGR driver reason for celebration after the disappointment of Stage 6, where he lost significant time.

SA duo maintain lead despite mishap in Dakar Rally

The sixth stage of Dakar 2025 saw TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s Henk Lategan and co-driver Brett Cummings remain in the overall lead of the rally, despite relinquishing 3min 1sec to Yazeed Al Rajhi and Timo Gottschalk who are in second place, in their privately entered Toyota Hilux.

Spaun leads by one shot in Honolulu

JJ Spaun shot a 5-under-par 65 to move into the lead after three rounds of the Sony Open on Saturday at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, ahead of second-round co-leader Patrick Fishburn (68), Eric Cole (67) and Germany’s Stephan Jaeger (62) by one stroke.
