Debutant Dalvon Blood scored a hat-trick as the Blitzboks demolished Japan in their Plate quarter-final of the France Sevens on Saturday.
Blood opened his account in the first half, along with touchdowns from James Murphy and Ronald Brown.
The rookie completed his triple feat after the break, with skipper Siviwe Soyizwapi adding his name to the scoresheet for a 40-0 win.
Earlier, the Blitzboks missed out on the Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2013 after a second pool defeat by Samoa, but a place in the plate semi-finals awaits on Sunday.
