Jesse Kriel will return to South Africa after he suffered a leg injury against the Barbarians at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, with his place in the squad to be taken by Rohan Janse van Rensburg.

Janse van Rensburg, who was part of the starting lineup in the 31-31 draw with the Barbarians, was arguably the Boks’ top performer in London.

Springbok management also confirmed on Sunday that Bulls wing Jamba Ulengo will stay on in the Bok camp as possible cover for Ruan Combrinck, JP Pietersen and Willie le Roux. Pietersen and Le Roux both have niggles picked up during club rugby action in England and Japan.

The duo were due to be examined by the Springbok medical team when they reported for national duty on Sunday afternoon. Combrinck suffered a knock to his lower right leg and is currently under review.

Meanwhile, Cheslin Kolbe, Tian Schoeman, Uzair Cassiem, RG Snyman and Lizo Gqoboka returned home after being part of the Bok squad for the Barbarians match.

Janse van Rensburg, Ulengo, Francois Venter, Sergeal Petersen, Roelof Smit and Jean-Luc du Preez are the uncapped players who will stay behind with the Springbok squad for the remainder of the end-of-year tour.

Meanwhile, the following overseas-based players will join up with the Springbok squad in London: Willem Alberts, Johan Goosen, Bryan Habana, Elton Jantjies, Steven Kitshoff, Willie le Roux, Vincent Koch, Lionel Mapoe, Franco Mostert, JP Pietersen and Warren Whiteley.

The Boks will start their preparations for this weekend’s Test against England with a morning training session at the Latymer Upper School fields on Monday.
