South Africa finally ended their eight-year drought against England to secure an emphatic 27-13 victory at Twickenham in their final Castle Lager Outgoing tour on Saturday evening.

The Springboks scored two tires through wing Kurt-Lee Arendse and lock Eden Etzebeth, while Faf De Klerk kicked over South Africa and fly-half Damian Willemse landing two drop-goals.

Meanwhile, England only scored one try courtesy of Hery Slade, while Owen Farrell kicked the conversion over and the penalty goal.

Thomas du Toit was sent off for a high tackle on Luke Cowan-Dickie in the last 20 minutes, leaving South Africa with only 14 players but they were able to hold on to secure the victory.

Nine minutes before the end of the game, England’s replacement back Henry Slade scored a try that was converted to cut South Africa’s lead to 14 points.

But the Springboks stayed strong and won for the second time in four Autumn games. They ended the year with nine wins out of 14 Tests and will defend their World Cup title in France in 2023.

England, on the other hand, only won one of their November games, and this loss was their sixth in 12 internationals this year.

Scorers:

England 13 (3) – Try: Hery Slade. Conversion: Owen Farrell. Penalty goals: Farrell (2).

Springboks 27 (14) – Tries: Kurt-Lee Arendse, Eben Etzebeth. Conversion: Faf De Klerk. Penalty goals: De Klerk (3). Drop goals: Damian Willemse (2).
