Springbok hooker Schalk Brits is looking forward to his stint with the Bulls next year.

Brits came out of retirement earlier this year to join the Springbok squad and came off the bench in the third Test against England at Newlands to earn his 11th cap.

The 37-year-old was part of the Bok squads for the Rugby Championship and end-of-year tour, but did not get any game time.

In a bid to earn World Cup selection, Brits was initially set to join the Stormers, who he had played for from 2006 to 2009, and again in 2011.

‘But then I received a message saying they had financial issues and so now I will be joining the Bulls,’ he told Rugby Pass.

‘I will start training with the Bulls in January and it is fantastic to be joining them, and while it is for one season it is exciting. After the World Cup I am definitely done.

‘I will have to merit my selection for the Bulls and if I am successful then I will give myself a chance with Boks to make the World Cup.’

Brits will start at hooker for the Barbarians against Argentina on Saturday under coach Rassie Erasmus, who is also set to be involved with the Bulls next year.
