The fraud and money laundering trial involving former EPRU president Cheeky Watson and his three co-accused will begin in July next year.
Nadia Gerwel, a former assistant director in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s finance department, Zeranza director Andrea Wessels and Mandisi Mkasa, a former director of Laphum’ilanga Transport Services, will be in the dock along with Watson.
The charges are linked to the municipality’s IPTS (Integrated Public Transport System) funds of R208-million that were squandered.
According to court papers, close to R3-million was laundered into the bank accounts of Access Management (who were the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium operators), EP Rugby and Zeranza.
Watson and his co-accused handed themselves over to police in March this year.
