Springbok JP Pietersen is set to leave the Leicester Tigers after just one season at the English club.
The 70-test cap Bok winger joined Leicester last year and made 14 starts and one appearance from the bench in the 2016-17 campaign, while scoring three tries.
However, Leicester confirmed on Tuesday that they would be releasing Pietersen.
‘We are grateful for the contribution that JP Pietersen has made in his time here,’ Tigers chief executive Simon Cohen commented.
‘His departure allows [head coach] Matt O’Connor a sum within the salary cap for next year, and the year after, to sign players that fit his vision for the squad and match his playing philosophy for the Tigers.’
It’s believed that Pietersen could now be set to join French giants Toulon.
