Seabelo Senatla scored a hat-trick as the Blitzboks thumped Russia 40-5 on day one of the Cape Town Sevens. JON CARDINELLI reports.
The Blitzboks have made a positive start to their Cape Town Sevens campaign. The hosts dominated the collisions and were quick to translate turnovers into try-scoring chances. They went to the break with a 26-5 lead.
The gale force wind made handling difficult for both teams. The Blitzboks were not at their defensive best in the first half either, conceding a soft try to Russia’s Roman Roshchin.
Senatla touched down three times in the first half to bring his overall try-tally to 199. While he received no further opportunities in the second stanza, one would expect him to reach the magical 200-mark later in the day.
Tim Agaba and Rosko Specman scored in the second stanza to secure a big win for the hosts.
