Griquas could play in the Anglo-Welsh Cup

Four South African teams could play in the Anglo-Welsh Cup and another two in an American competition.

According to Rapport newspaper, SA Rugby revealed this during a presentation to the country’s 14 provincial unions on 7 July.

The Cheetahs and Kings are set to join an expanded ‘Pro14’ competition, having been axed from Super Rugby, with an official announcement expected to be made by Tuesday.

SA Rugby is also in talks with Premiership Rugby about including four South African teams, including Griquas and the Pumas, in the Anglo-Welsh Cup.

And another two SA provincial teams could take part in a USA competition.
