Bulls fullback Warrick Gelant will make his first start of the season against the Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.
Gelant replaces Divan Rossouw, who drops to the bench.
The 22-year-old missed the Bulls’ first-round win against the Hurricanes with a knee injury but came off the bench in the 49-35 loss to the Lions.
Handré Pollard, who was at 12 against the Lions, returns to his regular position at flyhalf, while wing Johnny Kotze takes the inside centre position in the absence of captain Burger Odendaal.
Duncan Matthews will make his first appearance of the season in the No 11 jersey.
Among the forwards, co-captain Nic de Jager replaces Thembelani Bholi, with Hanro Liebenberg switching to blindside flank.
