Jaco Kriel and Madosh Tambwe will miss the Lions’ Super Rugby clash against the Bulls in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Kriel sustained a knee injury in the their 24-21 victory over the Jaguares in round nine and subsequently missed his team’s tour of Australia. The flanker was expected to be fit for their derby against the Bulls at Ellis Park, but the Lions have confirmed he is unlikely to play any part this weekend as he is still undergoing agility training. They will continue to monitor Kriel on a weekly basis.
Meanwhile, Tambwe sustained a side strain in the Lions’ Provincial Rugby Challenge match against the Welwitschias in Alberton over the weekend and will be considered for Super Rugby selection from next week. Hencus van Wyk is unavailable for selection due to a neck strain.
