Springbok and Lions captain Warren Whiteley is set to be ruled out for three weeks because of a groin injury.
Whiteley was withdrawn from the Boks’ third Test against France on Saturday after aggravating his groin strain during a lineout session on Thursday.
According to SuperSport.com, Whiteley will miss the Lions’ two remaining regular-season matches against the Sunwolves at Ellis Park on Saturday and the Sharks at Kings Park on 15 July, but is expected to be back for the playoffs.
Jaco Kriel could captain the Lions in Whiteley’s absence.
