Dan du Plessis picked up a shoulder injury in Christchurch

Dan du Plessis and Cobus Wiese have been ruled out of the remainder of the Stormers’ tour of New Zealand due to injury.

The centre and loose forward both suffered shoulder injuries against the Crusaders in Christchurch on Saturday, and are on their way back to Cape Town to have their injuries surgically assessed.

Lock Chris van Zyl is another injury casualty and has been ruled out for a week with concussion.

Coach Robbie Fleck has called up lock JD Schickerling and loose forward Kobus van Dyk to join the squad as injury cover for the rest of the tour.

Schickerling and Van Dyk, who both made their Super Rugby debut last year, will link up with the team in Dunedin, where they are preparing for their clash with the Highlanders on Friday.

Schickerling is returning from a minor ankle injury, while Van Dyk has been playing for Maties in the Varsity Cup recently.
