Dyantyi nominated for World Rugby award

Springbok wing Aphiwe Dyantyi is one of three nominees for the 2018 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award.

The others are Ireland wing Jordan Larmour and All Blacks prop Karl Tu’inukuafe.

Dyantyi has enjoyed a stellar 2018, marking his Springbok debut with a try against England in June and going on to score five more in nine appearances, including a memorable brace against the All Blacks in Wellington.

The 24-year-old, who only made his Super Rugby debut earlier this year for the Lions, was the joint top try-scorer in the Rugby Championship.

To be eligible for this award, players must have played less than one year of senior international rugby. Previous winners include New Zealand wing Nehe Milner-Skudder, England lock Maro Itoje and New Zealand wing Rieko Ioane.

The winner will be revealed at the World Rugby Awards in Monte Carlo on 25 November.
