The Springboks have regained fifth position in the World Rugby rankings after their 36-34 win over the All Blacks in Wellington.

The Boks’ thrilling two-point triumph was their first over the All Blacks since 2014 and their first in New Zealand since 2009.

South Africa received two rating points (81.35 to 83.35) for their stirring effort, enough to elevate them above Scotland and Australia.

The All Blacks remain at the top of the rankings, but were deducted two points (94.52 to 92.52) following the rare defeat.

Australia were also docked two full points (84.45 to 82.45) after their loss against Argentina. They’ve now slipped to seventh, their lowest position since the introduction of the rankings in 2003.

Argentina gained two points, but it was not enough to lift them above France in eighth position.
