The Sharks are lending our voice to the 16 Days of Activism, to raise much needed funds and awareness to tackle Gender-Based Violence, through our campaign “Tackling Violence Together”.

Gender-Based Violence affecting women and children, is an international crisis that needs urgent intervention.

From November 25th to December 10th, for every tackle the Hollywoodbets Sharks make over the three matches played during this period, money will be raised through a ‘tackle pledge’ and donated to non-profit organisations that assist women and children who have been victims of Gender-Based Violence.

Commenting on this initiative, The Sharks CEO Dr Eduard Coetzee said: “The recent statistics around Gender Based Violence in our country and province is extremely alarming. Now more than ever we need to act against Gender-Based Violence.

“When we come together as a collective magic happens and that united spirit shone bright through the civil unrest and floods that we experienced in the last two years. Today we call on Sharks fans both nationally and internationally to take a stand with us in fighting Gender-Based Violence. Whether it be through spreading this message, donating funds or donating items that can assist those affected by Gender- Based Violence, any involvement and support is welcomed.”

We ask that you join us and make a ‘tackle pledge’ as we stand against the abuse of women and children. Our Tackle Pledge tiers starts as little as R10.00 per tackle.

The “Tackling Violence Together” campaign isn’t just about rugby; it’s about building a safer and more compassionate South Africa. If you are interested in being a part of this important initiative, please visit www.sharksrugby.co.za
