Tickets to the clash between Ireland, currently top of the World Rugby rankings, and the World Cup-holding Springboks at the Aviva Stadium in November have sold out.

The Springboks will open a four-match, year-end tour itinerary with a Test against Ireland in Dublin on 5 November, with their schedule including Tests against France in Marseille (12 November), Italy (19 November) and England at Twickenham (26 November), as well as a midweek game against the Bristol Bears on 17 November.

The IRFU confirmed on social media that the 5 November Test against the Springboks will be played at a sell-out Aviva Stadium, which holds 51,700 fans at capacity. Tickets for the following weekend’s Test against Australia have also sold out.

Ireland claimed a historic first-ever series victory over the All Blacks in New Zealand with a 32-22 in Wellington, which came a week after their very first win in the country.

This was the first time that the All Blacks had lost a series since 1994 and was the New Zealanders’ fourth loss in five Tests.

The result moved Ireland to the top of World Rugby’s official Test rankings, replacing Six Nations champions France, who played only two Tests in Japan.

The Springboks, who held the No 1 spot before the July internationals and saw off Wales in a 2-1 series victory after winning the decider in Cape Town, are currently third in the world ahead of the Rugby Championship.

This will be the first Test between the two nations since Ireland claimed a 38-3 victory over ex-Bok head coach Allister Coetzee’s team in 2017.
