In what can only be described as a shocking decision, Ajax Cape Town withdrew their urgent appeal to interdict the start of the 2018-19 Absa Premiership campaign.

Judge Denise Fischer had a busy day in the South Gauteng High Court as she granted the National Soccer League leave to appeal her prior judgement of setting aside Advocate William Mokhari’s award of docking points from the Urban Warriors for ineligibly fielding Tendai Ndoro.

In the most recent development at the court, Ajax Cape Town withdrew their interdict against the start of the new season, however, the court is in the process of hearing the ruling which will decide if the Cape side gets reinstated to 15th position, despite them withdrawing their interdict.

What can be deduced from the proceedings is that the end of this saga is not likely to be anytime soon, as both other parties (AmaZulu and NSL to mention a few) are likely to appeal any new decisions.

The PSL want Mohkhari’s ruling back in play, which will see Ajax Cape Town relegated to the National First Division.

The ramifications of whatever outcome is decided upon could see the league being postponed and not commence on the weekend of 3/4 August.
