Mamelodi Sundowns defender Wayne Arendse wants his side to show the same hunger they did in 2016 in order to reach the MTN8 final.
The Brazilians will renew their rivalry with SuperSport United when they do battle at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in their semi-final second-leg clash on Wednesday.
Sundowns managed to secure a vital away goal thanks to Gaston Sirino in the first leg on 1 September after playing to a 1-1 draw at the same venue.
This will be the third instalment of the Tshwane derby this campaign in under two months, with Sundowns claiming the bragging rights in their Absa Premiership opener in August.
Arendse insists that there is a strong sense of eagerness within the squad to reach the final after losing out to Bidvest Wits three years ago.
‘We know what they are about – a really good attack. They have scored in all of their games and that is obviously where their strength is; they are an attacking force,’ Arendse said.
‘We know what we are up against. We are eager to be in a final because our last final was back in 2016 and I think we just need to get back in that space.
‘At Sundowns that is how it’s supposed to be, so the guys are looking forward to that and we can’t wait.’
Mamelodi Sundowns against SuperSport United kicks off at 7:30pm.
