An Alexis Sanchez hat-trick inspired Arsenal to a comfortable 5-1 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
The match might have started frustratingly for the Gunners, but they broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when Sanchez put Mesut Ozil through on goal for a tap-in to make it 1-0.
The Gunners came close to doubling their lead in the 37th minute when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sent a fine through-ball for Sanchez, but the Chilean international failed to hit the target after rounding the Bournemouth goalkeeper.
At half-time Arsene Wenger’s side, after dominating the first half, lead 1-0.
Arsenal forward Theo Walcott nearly doubled their lead in the 48th minute but his header effort went inches over the crossbar from an Ozil free kick.
The Gunners grabbed their second goal of the match in the 72nd minute when Sanchez surged into the box before putting the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle.
In the 80th minute, the Gunners extended their lead to 3-0 with Sanchez grabbing his second of the game.
However, the Hammers pulled one back three minutes later when substitute Andy Carroll fired the ball home from close range to make it 3-1.
Oxlade-Chamberlain restored Wenger’s side’s three-goal advantage a minute later with a finish from close range to make it 4-1.
Arsenal all but sealed their victory in the 86th minute when Sanchez completed his hat-trick with an impressive lob over West Ham shot-stopper Darren Randolph to help his side collect all three points at the London Stadium.
