Belgium have announced their 23-man World Cup squad and have included Vincent Kompany despite the defender picking up an injury against Portugal on Saturday, writes DEAN WORKMAN.
The Manchester City captain picked up a groin injury during the 0-0 draw with Portugal in Brussels on Saturday and will feature in a squad packed full of talent.
Dubbed Belgium’s ‘Golden Generation’, the team will be looking to improve on their quarter-final finish from the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
With the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku leading an exciting attack, Belgium have been widely tipped as one of the top contenders in Russia.

A notable absentee from the squad is Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke, with manager Roberto Martinez citing Lukaku and Michy Batshuay as sufficient cover for the centre-forward berth.
