Cape Town City FC coach Benni McCarthy has been reportedly linked to Scottish club St Mirren.
The Buddies will yet again do battle in the Scottish top flight after winning the Championship by 12 points and securing promotion in the process.
Their success, however, came at a price as they lost their manager Jack Ross to English League One side Sunderland.
According to the Daily Mail, McCarthy is one of the names being linked with the job along with Real Madrid legend Guti.
McCarthy has only been in management for one season, where he led his City side to a fifth-place finish all while securing his Uefa A-Licence in coaching.
According to the report, McCarthy will have to beat off competition from former Wigan Athletic manager Gary Cadwell and ex-Ross County boss Jim McIntyre if he is to get the job.
It is thought that the newly promoted club will start interviewing candidates over the next two days, with the hope of making an appointment next week.
McCarthy spent a period living in Edinburgh after retiring in 2013, and he revealed in a 2017 interview that he promised his wife that they would move there one day. Will this tempt McCarthy to leave the shores of Cape Town yet again in the search of more success in Europe, only this time as a manager?
