Kaizer Chiefs defender Mario Booysen wants his side to go out ‘guns blazing’ when they take on SuperSport United in the Telkom Knockout on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys were forced to endure a 2-1 defeat to rivals Orlando Pirates when the two side’s locked horns in an entertaining Soweto derby clash at the FNB Stadium over the weekend.

However, Amakhosi will be hoping to advance to the semi-final of the competitions when they take on Matsatsantsa at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

The lanky defender admits that it was a ‘bitter pill to swallow’ suffering a defeat to their Soweto rivals, but insists that his side will look at the positive and focus on their upcoming encounter.

‘That was a bitter pill to swallow,’ Booysen told his club’s official website.

‘But we shouldn’t dwell too much on the past. We just have to take the positives out of it and go forward.

‘It’s going to be a long season. There are still a lot of games and trophies to play for. We just need to focus each time on our next match and not look too far ahead.

‘We have a lot of quality in our squad and that’s why we should approach every fixture with a positive attitude. It’s all about believing in ourselves.’

Booysen says his side will go into their encounter against Matsatsantsa with a positive mindset to get the result that would see them advance to the next round.

‘SuperSport United have a decent team with quality players,’ he added. ‘We know their game plan. We have to focus, however, on ourselves – on what we do best and not too much on them.’

‘We have to go out with all guns blazing, because we want to proceed to the next round. We have to concentrate on our own performance, because if we play well, the result will come.’

Kaizer Chiefs will host SuperSport United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Sunday afternoon with kick-off set for 3pm.
