Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy is wary of the wounded position Kaizer Chiefs find themselves in and says that his team will be hoping to add to Giovanni Solinas’ dismal start with the club.

The Citizens do duty against Chiefs in an Absa Premiership encounter at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday afternoon with kick-off set for 3pm. The Soweto giants are desperate to claim their first three points of the season following a five-game barren streak in the league, with their most recent clash ending in a 2-2 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic.

McCarthy, however, has no sympathy for Chiefs, citing the importance of the victory and the magnitude of the game.

‘This Absa Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs is crucial for us. They are wounded but my players are ready to take care of them.’ he told the media at a press conference in Cape Town.

Starting with Saturday’s trip at home to Chiefs, City face somewhat of a daunting run of games, which could define their immediate hopes of glory. After the clash with the Amakhosi, City travel to Soweto to face Chiefs’ arch-rivals Orlando Pirates before doing duty in the MTN8 final against SuperSport United on 29 September at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Thereafter, McCarthy’s men resume their league campaign with a clash against current table-toppers Bidvest Wits.

The former Orlando Pirates striker revealed that he has his own management style, stating that he doesn’t want to be compared to the likes of Jose Mourinho, Pitso Mosimane or Gavin Hunt.

‘I want to be myself. I don’t want to be Mourinho, I don’t want to be Pitso Mosimane or Gavin. I want to be me. I admire those people but I want my own style,’ he concluded.
