Cape Town Spurs have strengthened their squad with the addition of defender Rafiq de Goede, the club announced on Wednesday.
De Goede joins the team at the bottom of the DStv Premiership after being released by Maritzburg United at the end of last season when the club was relegated, and will now need to prove his fitness before being considered by coach Ernst Middendorp.
Spurs take on Cape Town City in a derby clash on Sunday, looking for what would be only a second victory of the season. Spurs sit last on the table with four points from 14 matches.
The 30-year-old De Goede helped Stellenbosch to win promotion in 2019 and spent three-and-a-half top flight seasons with the side before moving to Maritzburg last January.
He is the son of former Hellenic centre back Faried de Goede, who was a firm favourite of football fans in the Cape in the 1980s.
Surprise Ralani has also returned to train at the club after settling a dispute with the side that saw him leave earlier this month. Ralani had also joined outside the transfer window as he was a free agent without a contract.
